Once again it’s Tablescape Thursday with Susan at Between Naps on the Porch. Check out all the fun and pretty tables there!
My husband and I usually have our morning and evening meals together but lunch is often a do it yourself affair. Here is a placesetting for one, perfect for just sitting down to relax and read a good book and enjoy.

Florals, strips and dots! Three of my favorite things.

A closeup of the dots on the napkin.

And, the placemat.

The zinnias are from my garden.

The table is in front of my a couch in my living room. Actually, it is not a table but a small chest.
Now, what to have for lunch?
Today’s Lagniappe: Ina Garten’s Shrimp Salad
- 3 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 lemon cut into quarters
- 4 pounds large shrimp in the shell (16 to 20 shrimp per pound)
- 2 cups good mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons white wine or white wine vinegar
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 6 tablespoons minced fresh dill
- 1 cup minced red onion (1 onion)
- 3 cups minced celery (6 stalks)
Bring 5 quarts of water, 3 tablespoons salt, and the lemon to a boil in a large saucepan. Add half the shrimp and reduce the heat to medium. Cook uncovered for only 3 minutes or until the shrimp are barely cooked through. Remove with a slotted spoon to a bowl of cold water. Bring the water back to a boil and repeat with the remaining shrimp. Let cool; then peel, and devein the shrimp.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, mustard, wine or vinegar, 1 teaspoon salt, pepper, and dill. Combine with the peeled shrimp. Add the red onion and celery and check the seasonings. Serve or cover and refrigerate for a few hours.

How pretty! And how nice to show how a setting for one can be just as gracious and beautiful as a table set for 6.
LOVE the linens — those embroidered dots are chic and classic — nice! and the flatware is stunning.
Lovely all around!

Very pretty! Love the little floral plate!
Perfect setting for a lunch table for one! I love those pink striped rims on those plates! I don’t think there is anything Ina makes that I don’t like!!
It is nice to set a place for just one and still make it special.
I love Ina’s books and use them often. I note your reading material is A Gracious Table. Good choice.
Hi christi, thanks for visiting today. I have a confession to make. We have actually been enjoying a very mild July in Oklahoma. But I was afraid if I did not use my floral plates soon, that the season would get past me! ha ha! Ssh! Don’t tell anyone okay?
I love your table for one. What a great way to treat yourself! The shrimp salad sounds good too. You’d better set another place for me!
I absolutely adore your napkins. I recently took an heirloom sewing class. I have been meaning to make some linen napkins and yours have made me want to do it right now!!
Rhonda
This is very nice. I particularly love the edging on your napkins. Happy TT to you!

Christi, I forgot to tell you this when I posted last night, but you mentioned the “Grasshopper Opera.” I’ve never heard of it, but I will definitely look for it when my sound is restored on my laptop. I have sound, but for some reason, I can’t get my player on my blog to play. I can, however, play CDs. Go figure. Anyhow, thanks for letting me know about that. Enjoyed looking at your china again!
XO,
Sheila
I love shrimp and had it over the weekend.
I think that we all need to set a table for one often and pamper ourselves.
Very inviting looking placesetting.
Don’t forget to join us on this weekend for the final Christmas in July Tablescape Party on Saturday (some may spill into Sunday since the 25th is Saturday. I am having a real CIJ family dinner on Sunday, but will post my table photos Friday night and Mr. Linky will be up and ready at Playing Dishes.
Had shrimp for dinner.. YUM!

Lovely and restful. Love the dinner plate with stripes and salad plate with flower. But I want to see the finished recipe! – The Tablescaper
Oh, Christi, that is such a pretty, feminine setting. Where do I start? Love the china (pink stripes and the floral both!) and flatware, and those linens. Oh, they make my hear flutter! Those little dots are SOOOOOOO cute! And I have Chantilly, too.
Do you have room for one more in front of the set??? I sure could go for some of that shrimp salad!
Happy Tablescape Thursday…
XO,
Sheila
Your tablesetting is perfect for a relaxing moment with ones self! Love it.
How sweet this post was! And such a nice midday treat for yourself! I love it and I love your place setting.
And another recipe I’m coveting! Thanks!
